How long is the turn around for custom pieces?
We normally give ourselves a week to ten days to create your custom piece, but can complete rush orders in as little as a day if necessary. If, however you are designing several pieces of jewelry (ie: your wedding party), we may require a little more time.
What's the best way to care for my jewelry?
To keep your jewelry looking its best we have a few suggestions. To prevent tarnishing please avoid exposure to chemicals in everyday products by using perfume, hair spray, lotions, etc before putting your jewelry on and removing it altogether when using cleaning products. Also to slow down the oxidation process, which is caused by extended air exposure, keep your jewelry in a box or plastic bag when it's not being worn. Using a treated polishing cloth could remove or damage the finish on you piece, instead use a soft damp cloth. Many semi precious stones are porous so it is not advisable to dip them in commercial jewelry cleaning products. They can be cleaned with gentle soap and water. Well cared for jewelry can provide a lifetime of enjoyment.
Do you do bridal party jewelry?
We enjoy working with brides and have outfitted the jewelry for many briday parties! Every bride wants a wedding that is truly her own, and every detail counts. Our designers can create fabulous jewelry so that the look of the wedding is beautifully coordinated while at the same time offering a truly unique gift for their special friends. By choosing jewels the bride not only gives a treasure but a lasting memory as well. We specialize in creating one-of-a-kind timeless pieces of jewelry. We give brides the chance to create beautiful identical pieces or incorporate slight variations in each piece depending on the style of each woman in the wedding. It's an ideal solution not only as gifts for the members of the bridal party but also for the brides own "special day" jewels.
Do you do repairs?
We do jewelry repairs. Often broken strands simply need to be re-strung or a clasp replaced. But clients will also bring in pieces that not only need repair but they would like to re-work completely. Simply adding accents like gold or sterling silver beads or other gem stones can bring a whole new life to a piece that needed updating. It's an especially great idea to do with hand me down jewelry pieces or sentimental jewelry pieces that, while the stones are still great, the style of the piece may be out of fashion or not quite your personal accessory taste.
Are jewelry supplies available at Jewel Loft?
Jewelry supplies are available at Jewel Loft. We sell a wide variety of 18-22K gold, 14K gold, sterling silver, vermeil, and gold filled findings. These include clasps, earring bases and connectors, spacers, and various sized interesting beads. We also sell crimps, wire, chain, and beading tools. We have several kinds of round nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, crimpers, and nippers. Another unique feature to Beads in the Loft is the fact we sell our briolets by weight. As a jewelry maker you have the option to buy as minimal as one gem stone as opposed to having to buy the whole strand of precious and semi-precious stones.
